Which built-in set do I need?

1. Installation depth

Renovation
When renovating a bathroom, you must place the shower drain into the existing floor. Often there isn’t much room to install the drain, so the installation depth of the drain is an important factor. Choose a built-in set with low installation depth when there’s little space available.

New construction
Installation depth is not an important factor in new construction projects. You can select any drain that matches your preference. Important: built-in sets with 50 mm water seal comply with the European construction standard EN 1253.

2. Drainage capacity

A shower drain must have a higher drainage capacity than the amount of water that flows through the shower head. Easy Drain shower drains have a drainage capacity of at least 30 liters per minute, which is more than sufficient for any standard situation.

Important: always check whether drainage capacity is sufficient and keep in mind that the layout of the shower also affects the drainage capacity.

3. Water seal

A water seal blocks the free access of odor from the sewer. According to the European building standard EN 1253, a shower drainage system must be installed with a water seal height of at least 50 mm.

In renovation projects, when there isn’t a lot of installation depth available, a low water seal (e.g. 30 / 35 mm) can be applied.

4. Fixed or rotatable connection

When connecting the built-in set to the drainage pipe, you want as few bends in the pipe as possible. The built-in set with rotatable outlet offers a 360 degree connection, so that a direct connection to the drainage pipe is always possible.

If there are obstacles in the way, e.g. with wooden flooring, it is possible to order a vertical outlet separately.
